A Little About My Journey
I have always loved to draw, color, and read. I had a favorite tree I would curl up in and read the day away from a very young age. I had a great big imagination that would spill off the pages of my book, or my drawing.
When I was 17 I was asked by my brother what I wanted to do after high school. I told him that I wanted to go to art school--his answer--I wasn't good enough. That one sentence. haunted me for nearly 30 years.
In 2002 I began writing the stories that had always lived inside me...hoping that one day, I wold be good enough to illustrate them too.
In 2006 my family moved from my home state of Michigan and I began to make dolls and other characters, encouraged by my high school art teach (who I was still in contact with) and the ladies at the Dorr Mill Store in New Hampshire (our new home state). I also began publishing my own patterns--again encouraged by the ladies at Dorr Mill.
In 2009, my first children's book was published, and it was turned into a stage musical.
Over the years I would always return to my love of drawing and painting. Finally in 2020, after having published 5 more children's books over the years, I had a little extra time and I began really working on my drawing and painting skills. I found the courage to move back into that space, and I have never looked back.
I hope you enjoy my great big imagination!
