Snail Mail is Special
It seemed like a no-brainer when my mom suggested it. Why don't you make stationery while you're looking for a job??
Well, one of my favorite things about being a graphic designer was picking out the paper for each project. So...yes! Good idea Mom!
I started with hand stamping because it was so different from the way I created on the computer. It was a refreshing change & challenge I was grateful for. The ideas flowed & I've had a hard time producing designs as fast as I can think them up.
In addition to hand stamping, my work is letterpressed and digitally printed. I've moved from 5 general card designs to...well, lots of cards & paper products! Greeting cards for all occasions, monogrammed stationery, notepads, gift wrap, wedding invitations...the list grows daily.
Remember the days before email? Remember the days of chain letters & pen pals? Remember how it felt to get something addressed to YOU in the mailbox? That special feeling still exists, thanks in part to email & text messaging. We just don't send as much mail as we used to and so it's importance has increased. Emails, texts & Facebook messages are easy, but they will never replace the sincerity of a hand written note. Show someone they're special to you by picking up a pen!
Long live Snail Mail!
