All of my creations come from an urge to make something beautiful from existing things around me--from the natural world to thrift shops. For the cabinets, I enjoy collecting all these tiny things and then letting them speak to me in a serendipitous moment of assembling them in a tiny box. As for the bone art, I have always found skeletons to be so beautiful and I have collected them off of our forest floor for over a decade (at least, my husband collects them for me). They piled up and I could never figure out what to do with them, how to celebrate them in some special way. At the same time, I have another urge--to dot things. Strange yes, dotting things calms me and dotting canvases over and over simply does not do the trick. So I started dotting the bones. It's just the right thing to do. Now they are on a pedestal, each illuminated in a unique way, highlighting the incredible world of natural things--with a hint of whimsy.
