Ein Leben mit Faser und Farbe weben

Meine Liebe zu Farbe und Textur hat mich auf eine Reise vom Glaskünstler in die Welt der Faserkunst mitgenommen. In den letzten 15 Jahren habe ich mich mit Spinnen, Färben und Weben beschäftigt. Ich kreiere jetzt feine handgewebte, handgesponnene und handgefärbte Garne, in meinem Heimstudio in den wunderschönen Hügeln im Südwesten von Wisconsin.
Das Weben bringt einen Aspekt der Funktionalität in die Kunst, der mir Spaß macht.
Es ist schwer, das Wunder zu beschreiben, am Webstuhl zu sein und zu beobachten, wie Ihr Stoff mit jedem Wurf des Shuttles wächst. Faser ist ein wunderbar taktiles Medium und der Rhythmus des Webens ist sehr meditativ. Das Zusammenspiel von Muster und Textur beim Weben reizt mich sehr. Dann werfen Sie Farben ein und wie sie voneinander im Gewebe beeinflusst werden.... Ich werde ein Leben lang brauchen, um alles über das Weben zu lernen, was es zu lernen gibt.
Hin und wieder gehe ich zurück zu meinen Glaswurzeln und feuere die Taschenlampe an, um Glasperlen und Knöpfe herzustellen. Zwei so unterschiedliche Medien nähren weiterhin meine kreative Seele. Wenn ich nicht etwas mit meinen Händen erschaffen könnte, wäre mein Leben unvollständig.
Meinen Shop auf Etsy zu starten und meinen Blog zu erstellen, beides geschah ein bisschen zufällig. Während ich am Computer herumspuckte und diese Seiten ausprobierte, fand ich sie so einfach und optisch ansprechend, dass ich, bevor ich es wusste, ... Whamo Alacazam; Ich hatte einen Etsy-Shop und einen Blog, um mein Geschäft zu fördern. Beide waren ein Segen, um mein Interesse an der Fotografie zu erneuern (als ob ich mehr Interessen brauche!), Mich über die Internetwelt zu unterrichten und mein Geschäft ständig frisch und aufregend für mich zu halten.
My love of color and texture has taken me on a journey from being a glass artist to the fiber arts world. For the last 15 years I have explored spinning, dyeing and weaving. I am now creating fine handwovens, handspun and hand dyed yarns, in my home studio in the beautiful hills of southwestern Wisconsin.
Weaving brings an aspect of functionality to art that I enjoy.
It is hard to describe the wonder of being at the loom and watching your fabric grow with each throw of the shuttle. Fiber is a wonderfully tactile medium and the rhythm of weaving is very meditative. I am very drawn to the interplay of pattern and texture in weaving. Then throw in colors and how they are affected by each other in the weave....It will take me a lifetime to learn all there is to learn about weaving.
Every now and then I go back to my glass roots, and fire up the torch to create glass beads and buttons. Two such different mediums continue to feed my creative soul. If I couldn't be creating something with my hands my life would be incomplete.
Starting my shop on etsy, and creating my blog, both happened a bit by accident. While putt-sing around on the computer and checking these sites out, I found them so easy and visually appealing that before I knew it...whamo alacazam; I had an etsy shop and a blog to help promote my business. Both have been a blessing in renewing my interest in photography (like I need more interests!) , teaching me tons about the internet world and keeping my business constantly fresh and exciting for me.
