I've been disabled since 1998 and bored out of my mind, having worked in the corporate world for over 30 years. I had to find something to fill my time and stir my creative juices before I drove myself and everyone else around me crazy.

After the WTC attack, my husband lost his job in TX so we had to move to SC. In 2005, he retired but he just isn't the kind of guy to sit around and do nothing and everything costs so much money these days. That is why he started building the cat furniture. He loves making them and takes so much time to get them just right. It's been a very enjoyable way for him to spend his time and he likes to think that people enjoy the effort he puts into each and every item he builds.

When we can, we love fishing, camping, and astronomy. However, on a fixed income and with one person who is limited on movement, there's only so much you can afford to do. We started going to the mines around SC, NC and GA and learned to pan for gold and grub for gems. We ended up with A LOT of rocks and needed to decide what to do with them all before our house collapsed from the weight.

I have always loved shopping for and wearing jewelry and started tumbling, grinding, cutting, shaping, and polishing rocks and learned to make them into very pretty and unique jewelry pieces. Then, I started adding things to my pieces to enhance their look. I gave away a bunch of pieces and people kept telling me I should sell my designs. Since I don't work, I don't have many opportunities to wear jewelry anymore so my house was filling up!

So, I started making my jewelry for flea markets, festivals, shows, parties, presents, etc. and eventually started selling them on Etsy and here we are.

I love making jewelry but, more than anything else, I love making jewelry for other people. I especially love custom orders because it's thrilling when someone wants something unique and even more thrilling when they love the finished product. Plus, I get so much pleasure from talking to and working with people. That's the best thing about it!
