How It's Made...
I began selling on Etsy in 2008. I would always doodle and watercolor in my free time and used Etsy as a platform to sell my work. Eventually, my interests moved to printmaking—specifically linocuts. They are called linocuts because the images are carved from blocks of linoleum. It is a very similar process to woodcuts, simply using a different material.
I've always loved the process of making linocuts. There is so much thought and organization that goes into linocuts before you even begin. You have to get used to thinking backwards. You are basically creating a stamp. So any image or text you draw on your block will be reversed after it's printed.
In the past year, I've been experimenting with gouache painting as well. It's a similar medium to watercolor...you can paint with it dry and thick, or have a nice washy feel to the piece. Either way, it's my current paint of choice!
