Metalsmithing is in my blood
My grandfather, my father, my uncles…all trade metal workers.
As a child, if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, you would have gotten Singer/ Actress/ Beauty Queen/ Veterinarian (all rolled into one). If you told me then that I would grow up and wield a torch for a living just like my father, I probably wouldn't believe you. All it took was an elective metal casting class while pursuing my BFA in college, and my mind was changed.
My career path to an artist wasn’t direct. After graduation, I took a few detours along the way, but an assistantship with a wonderfully talented jeweler, mentor and friend, introduced me to my current love of the craft of jewelry making. Thanks to her encouragement and the support of family and friends, I’ve been learning, creating and developing my style ever since.
I pull inspiration from my surroundings, everyday objects, structures, fashion and my family legacy which results in a blend of organic and industrial. Fabrication is my creative method of choice and incorporate cast elements (made from my fabricated original) to keep my line cohesive. I love to create subtle, yet beautiful pieces with smart design and a focus on craftsmanship.
