I like to make things...
So I became an artist on the edge of design.
I made my first wall decals for my daughter’s room using some leftover vinyl from an installation. People liked them, so in 2007 I opened my Etsy shop, Lunule. They were even included in Making Stuff: Kids a DIY book from BlackDog Press. Each decal is hand-cut from my own drawings and designs. Most decals (except for the chalkboards) are available in other colors and sizes.
As an artist, I create site specific installations from hand-cut sign vinyl for domestic, commercial , and alternative settings. Hand-cutting vinyl is like woodblock printing, drawing, painting, and design all rolled into one. I discovered sign vinyl by accident when I did an piece on a fence and I did not think paper would work--I needed something that would stick! Since then I have been slightly obsessed with tape and other adhesive materials. There are so many amazing surfaces and colors to experiment with!
The tape is a new item in my shop, created as an experiment for DesignBoom Mart in Toronto. I applied with a prototype and to my surprise was selected. I went into production! My original design sold out and I have since created 4 other tape patterns and am working on a series of tutorials with fun ways to use the tape such as this one: https://snapguide.com/guides/use-decorative-tape-to-wrap-a-package/.
Since my wall items are made to order convo me with size and colour requests. I can also cut any design (with the exception of the chalkboards) in paper for framing. I also love commissions and am happy to work with you on a unique design for your home, child's room, or office.
