Journey to Creativity
I have been drawing and painting my entire life. Art, music, and books were my first loves. All three heavily influence my life to this day. I used to only draw for fun and never took myself very seriously. I got away from drawing and painting entirely for about ten years. About two years ago, I gave into the itch again and I haven’t been able to quit! I decided I wanted to incorporate my original artwork into my Etsy shop in addition to my crochet.
I first learned how to crochet from my husband shortly after we met. He taught me the traditional 'granny square' technique that his mother had taught him. I soon grew quite bored of only knowing one trick so I set out to teach myself the ropes. I used patterns and crochet block books to teach myself new stitches and terms. I have been happily crocheting my own creations and even writing down some of my own patterns for the past 14 years.
I discovered Etsy several years ago from a coworker of mine at the little used bookstore I was working at. I was intrigued at the idea of having a venue to sell my creations.
I set up my shop in 2009 with only a name. The name 'Luvbuzz' comes from the title of a song from my favorite band of all time, Nirvana. I changed the spelling from 'Love' to 'Luv' and made it all one word so that it would be my own.
I create most items in my shop 'free form' or without a pattern. I like to use patterns to teach myself new techniques and then I create my own version sometimes using several techniques in one item. I offer a small selection of made to order items in which I have written my own patterns for duplication purposes. I enjoy being able to offer one of a kind, unique pieces.
I am quite often thinking two projects ahead of the one I am currently working on. I am constantly striving to learn and grow and improve on my craft.
I absolutely love having the opportunity to share my creations with the world!
