Anyone who knows me knows that I love Labs!
As an artist there are two things I love to express through my art, my passion for Labrador Retrievers and my love of life in Midcoast Maine.
Maddie was our first Lab and she would sit quietly in all kinds of outfits while I quickly took photos to use as reference. Maddie is no longer with us, but her spirit still inspires my work. Our other family Labs, Milo, Riley and Shelby have each served as models and I love to have them keep me company in my studio in Maine.
All of the Labs in our extended family have come from the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Released Puppy Program and we are extremely proud of their heritage.
I hope you enjoy my Labrador artwork as much as I enjoy creating it. If you own a Lab I hope you will connect with the images through your love of these wonderful souls. If you don’t own a Lab, I hope the images will connect with you through their themes and their spirit.
The Art-Making Process
I love to depict Labs enjoying the passions, pastimes and professions of the humans they love. Each image I create is unique. Usually I have an idea and can use a reference photo of one of our Labs to create the initial drawing. After creating a detailed drawing, I scan it into my computer and add layers and layers of color using a digital art program called Procreate.
Thank you so much for taking a look at my work. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My images are also available for licensing. If you don't see your Lab's color just let me know. I can sometimes create the version you need.
