5 out of 5 starsLovely hat. I like the fabric and adjustable cord. Using now to cover my messy lockdown hair! Easy to order. Delivery took a while because of holiday/pandemic backlog, but no worries.
Thank you! -

5 out of 5 starsWhat a great hat! Very versatile cap - adjustable and looks great. Once our son had this on his noggin he didn't take it off for the rest of our socially distanced "Skype-mas". Thank you for the lovely packaging and quick shipping! Well done!

Inside my brick and mortar shop in Port Townsend, Washington. I share the space with two other artists. Very eclectic!

Here's the outside of my Port Townsend shop! It is called Mad Hatter & Co.

I spend a great deal of my time here in my studio. It is small but very well lit with a glass door and a skylight.

Hard at work sewing a baseball cap. I do all the work myself from buying fabric, cutting, sewing to selling.

Just a sample of the hats you will find in my Port Townsend shop.
In my late twenties I was a struggling glass artist. I was doing small stained glass pieces and etched glass ornaments. I was sharing a booth at a craft fair with a friend who had made a few crocheted beanies. She sold all her hats while I sold nothing. It was then I realized that what I wanted to do was to create something useful. Thus began my hat making career! Living aboard a small boat left me with only having room for knitting hats. I would always have a bag of my hats with me at the local coffee shops and bars. Later I moved ashore where I pulled out my free sewing machine, took apart a newsboy cap from the thrift store and sewed a new one. The first hats were not the best but practice makes perfect. I now have about 9 different styles of sewn hats. I do continue to knit hats but I mostly knit to felt. I hope to have all my hat styles represented on this Etsy page in the future. Until then come and visit my shop in Port Townsend, Wa. or contact me directly.

Hats have been my business and passion since I began knitting them in the early 80's. I began sewing them a few years later and the rest is history. Over the years I have developed many fun but very functional styles.
