My Story
Hello Everyone, my name is Lis and I'm OB-SESSEDDD with Disney! At the end of 2014, I made my first pair of mouse ears inspired by the cat ears Taylor Swift wears in her 22 music video. Back then, no one was making ears out of wire. As far as I knew, I was the first one. I really loved the way they turned out so I decided that I would make a pair for everyone in my family who loved Disney as their Christmas present. They went over pretty well and since I was a few, short weeks away from leaving to participate in the Disney College Program in Florida, I decided I would make a pair for each of my new roommates. We all loved the way the ears looked especially when we wore them together in the parks. Whenever we would wear them or I would wear them in my youtube videos (I was vloging my experience on the DCP at the time) we would always get compliments and people would beg us to tell them where we got the ears. With all the lovely words of encouragement from my family, friends, and strangers, my dream was born. I wanted to have a Disney themed merch shop. Two and a half years later in June of 2017, Youse Guys Moychindice was born.
Youse Guys Moychindice was named after the shop front in the New York section of the Streets of America in Disney's Hollywood Studios. As a New Yorker myself, I always had a fondness for this section especially during the holidays when it would be all decked out for the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. After it was announced that The Streets of America would be demolished to make way for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I felt the need to pay homage to an area that brought me so much joy over the years.
In the Summer of 2019, I completely rebranded my shop into what it is today: Magic Lis! With my name also being the name of the shop, I felt like I was able to focus on my favorite type of magic rather than having the most amount of merchandise in my shop. Now my shop focuses on handmade Disney and Disney-inspired scrunchies to bring the magic into your everyday life.
