Just a guy that loves Chainmaille
Hello, My name is Shawn and I never know what to write in these sort of things. But lets give it a go anyway.
I have been making chainmaille for in the area of 7 years now. Not exactly sure what it was that pushed me from being interested in it to crafting it myself honestly. I know that I have always loved metal. The look of it, the smell of it, The cold feel of it. Chainmaille was part of that. It was metal yet had the properties of fabric almost. It was fascinating.
My love for the craft only grew as I learned more about it. Finding out that there are so many different weaves of chainmail with many different properties. Not just fabric like. (structural chainmaille has a special place in my heart.)
So I have been doing it ever since. I have sold my work before but mostly just to people I know or friends of a friend. That sort of thing. Never gave much thought to branching out to be honest.
Then a little over a year ago... Well someone very dear to me passed away. Someone that was a very large part of my world and had always loved my craft.
She left me a modest amount of money (maybe even what many would call a small amount .) that I frankly didn't deserve. After a long time feeling guilty even thinking about using the money I decided to use it to upgrade my workshop and tools/equipment. Not only making it more efficient (chainmaille is very time consuming.) but also improving the quality.
So now here I am. Working on building up a shop. Both here and my workshop thats a work in progress atm.
(photos of my workshop will be added at some point you have my word.)
