Making Friends with care, attention, and lots of laughter.
I first learned about Waldorf dolls when my daughter was just a little over 1. The more I discovered about them, the more I wanted to give her one of her own. My first ever Waldorf doll was made from a kit and was rife with the problems of a first doll - she was floppy and understuffed, she had a sloppy neck join, she was top-heavy. But I really enjoyed making her, and even better, watching my little girl play with and bond with her. And that's where the seed of Making Friends was planted.
I did a lot of research into the Waldorf doll-making process, made scores of practice dolls for friends and family, and launched my Etsy shop in 2010 with 3 listings - confident in my abilities as a self-taught Waldorf doll-maker.
In the years since the launch of my shop, I've added many new styles and patterns to the repertoire. We've also added a member to our family. Life with two children is never boring!
Amid all this change, one thing that has remained constant is my commitment to quality and to the pursuit of thrilling my customers. Quality begins with materials, continues with the process, and closes with packing and shipping. It's not just one facet of my business - quality is at the root of my business. Thrilling my customers - well, that's largely selfish. I love the gratification and self-congratulations that come along with a job well done.
