Childhood Memories
Meet Larisa, founder of Meadoria, a baby company where we create precious baby bonnets and other baby gifts. Meadoria’s story begins with a distant memory. Come along with us into a little part of a childhood world.
It was a quiet summer afternoon. The sun was shining through the windows of Larisa’s grandmother's sun room, the birds were chirping, and the dogs were taking their afternoon nap outside. Referred to as Babushka, grandma was sitting in her rocking chair crocheting a lace tablecloth. Larisa sat next to her feet on a little stool. “Babushka, can you teach me to crochet?” the 5-year-old girl asked. Babushka has heard this request many times before, and always responded with, "You're still too young", or "I will teach you when you grow up a bit". But this time her response was different. She looked at little Larisa, sighed, smiled, and got up to get another crochet hook and a ball of thread. Babushka came back with the needed tools, sat back down, and the journey of a maker began there, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, at her grandmother's feet.
Larisa grew up and was married. Children came a few years after, and life became a busy whirlwind of diapers, cooking, child rearing, sleepless nights, and oh so much joy! And still, she crocheted. She’d put the babies to sleep, pick up the toys, put away the dishes, and crocheted. She crocheted because it was the perfect way to relax and unwind after a busy day. Her husband saw Larisa’s love of crochet and encouraged her to share her work with the world.
Thus, Meadoria was born. From a childhood craft it evolved into something amazing. Every item made, every note written, and every package sealed is done with love, care, and true wishes of happiness for every family that our items reach.
