A world of Emotion
My name is Lisa - thank you for visiting my world, Meluseena.
‘Meluseena’ is a dimension from my imagination, named in my youth, the world I retreated to to express myself.
Drawing emotions is my joy. My favourite feelings and concepts - inner strength, vulnerability, tenderness, womanhood, animal connection, love, protection, empowerment, safety, memory, magic and wonder - I explore these in the form of visual metaphors and the stories.
My love for animals and the natural world seeps through into my work as strong as my love for myth. And even moreso, you will feel through some of my works, I hope, my desire to empower women. There are dangers in this world, but they are surmountable. Meluseena is filled with positive message, it is the journey of the relentless caterpillar to the butterfly.
I hope above all to connect with the people who view my art, via feeling. This is what art is to me, it’s a bridge between two people that is not experienced via words, but via feelings.
The opportunity to engage in dialogue with people who make a connection with my work and want to collect it is a truly humbling one. And I am deeply grateful for every single person who supports Meluseena - your pennies keep my studio running, so that I can keep creating.
My Process

All the artwork you see on Meluseena is digital. I create it on either my computer or my ipad. Sometimes I will integrate photo textures to make paintings vibrate between the real and the surreal. With digital art there is no ‘original’ in the old sense of the world. In some ways I love this aspect of it even philosophically - where does my art ‘go’ when my computer is turned off?
