Between Chile and Canada.
My name is Mariela Paz, I am clothing designer and hairstylist.
We arrived to Canada in 2013 with my partner and little son from Osorno, Chile.
Fernie BC was our “hometown” during 2 years where after considering sewing a profitable hobby I decided to make it my main job!
I start sewing booties on Chile, there were no knowledge at all about pdf patterns or even all the benefits in a soft soled shoe. My baby boy happened to have wide and chubby feet so neither shoes or slipper would fit him properly.
That’s how this challenge start!
Menta means "mint" in spanish. And I love how the word provides a bit of freshness to my creations, I also like how it sounds! Creative process, became a life style, where every second I am transforming fabrics and materials into special tiny little things.
I am hoping to send you, in every product and patterns, a little piece of this amazing adventure I am living with my family so far away from my beloved Chile.
Your support means a lot for me, as a mom it provides me a stay home occupation; and as a woman, it provides me the satisfaction of being a foreign artist developing new ways of expression.
