Elfling Creations: Fantasy-Inspired Art and Accessories
I'm an author and fantasy artist from the suburbs of Philadelphia. I've always been an artist; all throughout my school years I spent as much time as possible in art classrooms. After graduating high school I fell in love with the written word and ended up with a degree in English (focusing on literature). Never truly giving up on my first love, however, I soon missed the feeling of making things and when a friend put a crochet hook in my hand shortly after I graduated, there was no going back.
Over the years I've taught myself how to crochet, make chainmaille and jewelry, spin and dye yarn, embroider, cross stitch, sew, and sculpt polymer clay, as well as continuing to work on creative writing (my genre of choice is fantasy), but I'm always keeping an eye out for new crafty things. You could say I have a short attention span, but I prefer to think of myself as a jack of all trades. There are just so many different types of art out there and I want to learn as many as I can!
My types of crafting may be all over the place, but they generally all meet in the same place: fantasy. I have been a fan of the genre since my dad read me "The Hobbit" for the first time when I was six- little did he know the monster he was creating! The name "Elfling Creations" comes from a fantasy alter ego (roleplay character/cosplay) who was part elf, part halfling.
On a side note, "Meri" is my nickname. If you see something on your invoice from a Susan, that's still me.
