Announcement
Welcome to Natural Born Dyers for distinctive yarns hand-dyed with natural dyes.
I am a small indie dyeing business based in North East England that grew out of a natural dyeing hobby that produced fibre and yarn for my knitting/spinning-potty partner.
I want my business to reflect my ethos by being as environmentally friendly as possible. Some of my dyes are extracted from plants I grow myself or harvest locally, sometimes as part of my role as a volunteer at local nature reserves. Otherwise I use dried plant materials (except indigo which is only available as extract form due to it being unstable in dried plants)and source all my wool from British suppliers.
All wooden tools and shawl pins are turned by myself. I use a lot of locally sourced or recycled timber for my wooden items.
Natural Born Dyers is registered at the Packaging Register of the Stiftung Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (Foundation Central Agency Packaging Register – ZSVR) with registration number DE5678503253435 My Dual System Licensing partner for the collection, sorting & recycling of the packaging is ACTIVATE by RECLAY.
As consumer please ensure that all received packaging is separated, reused and/or disposed of in the right recycling containers, at home or locally.
Thanks for looking at my shop and feel free to convo me if you have any questions about my yarn and fibre

5 out of 5 starsA beautifully handmade dealgan, for me as a beginning spinner it takes some getting used to, but I am getting the hang of it. I love the quality and artistry.

5 out of 5 starsGreat feel, clean and simple look, and does the job well. Been alternating between this one and my turkish glider and can hit the thickness I want, while giving me enough variety in approach that I'm never bored spinning. Love that its easy to pack up in my bag to take on the go, as I like to spin at work!

Shop policies
We are a small indie-dying business set up in early 2010 to offer high quality yarns and fibres dyed with natural dyes which we extract from plants.
I aim to offer a more environmentally-friendly alternative to chemically dyed yarn and fibre. To achieve this I use dyes from plants that we grow ourselves, harvest locally from sustainable sources or purchase in dried form from UK suppliers. I use these to dye quality yarns and fibre which where possible are from British sources.

Additional policies and FAQs
We have shared our house with a cat and while we keep them away from the yarn and fibre I strongly recommend that you don’t buy anything from me if you, or the person you are buying it for, has a strong cat allergy.
As with all hand dyed yarn, I recommend buying as much as you need to complete a project, as it is impossible to guarantee a colour match from different dye pots. To minimise any differences when knitting, I also advise if using more than one skein to alternate the skeins every few rows.
We make every effort to accurately represent the colours of our yarn and fibre. All shop photos are taken outside in natural light to obtain as realistic a representation of the colours as possible and then photos compared to the actual yarns to ensure they are a true match. However due to differences in monitors and monitor settings the colours may appear differently on your computer. Therefore please read the colour descriptions for our yarns/fibre and compare with the photos to obtain a good idea of the actual colours. Also please be aware that some colours may appear differently under artificial light.
