Wired to create... Clay + Glaze = Happy Girl
My absolute favorite kind of day is when there is nothing on my schedule and I can role out of bed and head straight into the studio ~ well... quick stop in the kitchen for a cuppa joe. I have had a lot of different jobs but I have never not done clay (yes, double negative)!
Creating has always been my passion ~ anything I could do with my hands. Picking a medium has been truly difficult as I have several favorites including watercolor, photography and of course, clay. So which did I chose? The most heavy, breakable and least predictable of the three, of course!
There are two main veins of inspiration. One comes from the beautiful Michigan landscapes and freshwater lakes along with the abundant wildlife. The other is just my imagination expressing itself in fun, quirky, geometric designs that I find aesthetically pleasing but do not represent a specific object. I prefer to use brilliant colors and rich texture when working with clay that makes even the 'flat' pieces pop out. My pieces invite touch ~ so the attraction is not just visual.
Having an Etsy store has introduced me to so many wonderful customers locally, nationally and internationally. I would never have dreamed that I would be sending ornaments to Australia, knobs to Ireland and tiles to Spain! Thank you Etsy and thanks to all who have taken the time to visit :-)
