hand printed in New England
I'm a writer and lover of words, and I learned screen printing because I wanted to be able to print text on fabric. I began with one-of-a-kind poetry scarves and grew my practice into printing on cotton flour sack tea towels. I've designed and printed poetry towels for each season, with influences from the natural environment in which I live and love. Some of these towel designs also incorporate flora & fauna collected locally and pressed. The tea towel line has grown with a poetry towel for cooks & lovers, too!
I also print small-batch letterpress greeting cards in a joyful exploration of form and color. I use vintage wood and metal type collections and small hand-operated letterpress equipment. I mix my own colors unique to each edition, and print the cards on fine linen paper paired with charming recycled brown envelopes.
This shop Objet Autre focuses on my hand printed work in the form of small gifts and objects that are both precious and useful. I am motivated by the idea of poetry being present in the everyday. I celebrate language and design. I follow environmentally friendly practices in my life and in the shop. I also make photographs, collages, poems, essays, small books, and poem objects.
