Gorgeous, as always. One of my favorite artists. The feeling in all her work!! Highly recommend.
In 2005 I was working at a record store in Seattle. I had been working retail ever since I dropped out of art school in the mid-nineties and after a decade of working to pay back that one year of college I was dreaming of an escape. I pretty much lived exclusively for the nightly retreats to my decrepit drafting table where I was free to spend hours hiding away in a vivid watercolor washed world surrounded by the warmth and comfort of my unusual creations. After years of existing like this I eventually gained the courage to take a chance and quit my day job to pursue my art full-time. "Obsolete World" is a name that was originally taken from the 1961 Twilight Zone episode “The Obsolete Man” where in a future totalitarian state, Burgess Meredith’s character (a librarian) is a man put on trial for the crime of being obsolete. I had always loved that episode and I pictured a similar scenario in which the make-believe creatures of childhood suffer a similar “crime” as one grows old. I took to the task of conserving these victims of consequence and created “Obsolete World” as a place where my own creations could safely while away the hours.
Jeannie L. Paske
Jeannie is an artist from Portland Oregon who creates introspective work under the name Obsolete World. Using a mix of watercolor, charcoal, pastel and ink she designs richly textured illustrations of peculiar creatures in thought-provoking settings.
Accepted payment methods
Returns & exchanges
Please allow 3-7 days from the date of purchase for your order to ship. I print as I receive orders and it takes a few days for the colors to set. I ship to the address listed on your Etsy account unless otherwise noted. I will gladly discount shipping if you live in Oregon. Etsy doesn't have a way of dividing shipping state by state and most of the time it costs less to ship locally. Just send a message my way with the subject "shipping" for local inquiries.
***IMPORTANT***FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: International print orders have a 2 to 4 week estimated delivery time depending on how long it takes to clear customs. I cannot offer tracking on print orders as I ship with USPS first class international shipping, however, I would be happy to upgrade your shipping to Priority International if you would like to pay the difference. Priority rates start at $35.00.
I ship through Etsy and "merchandise" automatically prints on the customs label, so I cannot mark your item as a "gift".
***Please understand, taxes, customs charges and other import fees are the responsibility of the purchaser. Unfortunately, I am unable to predict which of these fees, if any, will be applied. You can get an estimate of what they might be by using the duty calculator at this link: https://www.simplyduty.com/
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you!
