Vor etwa 25 Jahren kündigte ich meinen Job als Grafikdesignerin in Boston und zog mit meinem Mann, einem Architekten und Bauunternehmer, nach Vermont. Gemeinsam renovierten wir eine 4 Hektar große Ranch aus den 80er Jahren in einer kleinen ländlichen Gemeinde, wo wir lebten, arbeiteten und unseren Sohn bekamen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt entwickelte sich die Malerei von einem Ventil und Zeitvertreib zu einer Vollzeitbeschäftigung. Ich liebte es wirklich, Teil der lokalen Kunstszene in Vermont zu sein! Als unser Sohn zwei Jahre alt war, kehrte unsere dreiköpfige Familie nach Massachusetts zurück, um näher bei der Familie zu sein und die Jobchancen als Architektin zu nutzen. Kurz darauf eröffnete ich meinen Shop auf Etsy. Großformatige Malerei erwies sich für mich in unserer Wohnung schnell als unpraktisch. Vor allem aus diesem Grund wechselte ich schließlich zu einem kleinen Betrieb. Ich entdeckte nicht nur das Format, sondern auch die Möglichkeit, erschwingliche und originelle Gemälde anzubieten. So arbeite ich seitdem. Die Künstler und Shopbesitzer, mit denen ich seit den Anfängen von Etsy in Kontakt stehe, fühlen sich heute wie Freunde und Kollegen an und inspirieren mich täglich.

About 25 years ago I left my job as a graphic designer in Boston and moved to Vermont with my architect/builder husband. Together, we renovated an 80’s ranch on 10 acres in a small rural community where we lived and worked, and had our son. It was at that point in my life that painting went from being an outlet and pastime, to a full-time occupation. I truly loved being a part of the local Vermont art community! When our son was two, our family of three returned to Massachusetts to be closer to family, and job opportunities for an architect. It was shortly thereafter that I opened my shop on Etsy. Painting large scale quickly proved to no longer be a practical option for me in our apartment. It was primarily for that reason that I eventually made the switch to working small. I found that I not only loved the format, but also the opportunity to offer affordable, and original paintings. I have been working this way ever since. The artists & shop owners I have connected with since the very early days of Etsy, now feel like my friends and co-workers and continue to inspire me every day.
