Olde Dog
After seven years of professional Sail-making, Tom established Olde Dog on Etsy in autumn of 2011, specializing in unique handbags and wallets handmade from recycled sailcloth. While the shop may occasionally be refereed to as our or we, Olde Dog is a 'one man band' of an organization, from initial design, production, and sales. In the spring of 2015, customers began seeing booths at Art festivals and local events in the Maryland and Delaware region.
With the idea of reusing salvageable discarded materials, Olde Dog mainly utilizes used sails and industrial canvas scrap to fabricate the majority of it's product line. Since each sail is slightly different, especially true with modern sailcloths, our inventory also changes and shifts with the inflow of fluctuating recyclable materials.
Over the years of refining our product designs and fluidly understanding what fabrics work well together, has caused our catalog to continually evolve. Come see what's next!
Our handmade products are made with love in our humble shop on Kent Island, Maryland. Chesapeake bay sailors and the marine industry of the surrounding area make an excellent source for reclaiming older sails and canvas. The Olde Billfold sail wallet is typically made from from 95-100% recycled sails and or scrap. The material used in making bags will vary greater, containing roughly 70 - 95% recycled materials. At Olde Dog we take the time to smell the roses; quality always takes precedent, creativity a close second. Inquire via email to request your own custom creation.
