Capturing Nature

Hi everyone, and welcome to One Loom Studio. It's a special place filled with beautiful, eco friendly jewelry. I've always been drawn to shiny things, and I can't remember a time when I didn't make jewelry; so it was only natural that I would combine my love of sparkle, with my passion for the environment and keeping everything earth friendly. Each leaf and branch you see is grown in my garden or collected from the surrounding Seattle neighborhood and then carefully cast by hand with un-mined, recycled, precious metal clay sterling silver and set with carefully selected stones. All the work of designing and creating the jewelry is done solely by me.

There really is nothing like making a people happy creating jewelry that captures and commemorates their special moments.

    Owner, Creator, Designer

As an artist I'm always striving to create my best work possible. It's a trait that was forged into me while attending RISD and even earlier as a child living just outside of New York. I was heavily inspired by regular trips to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, but I found my voice in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. I strive to capture just a moment of their beauty in each piece of my jewelry.

Welcome to OneLoomStudio, a place heavily inspired and dedicated to preserving the natural world. The leaves and branches that I cast are sourced in my Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, then cast with Sterling Silver Precious Metal Clay. Sterling Silver Precious Metal Clay, is a form of metal that is made with reclaimed silver from computer parts. The silver is ground down to a powder and mixed with water and organic binders to create a metal putty like clay. After forming the jewelry the clay is heated at an extremely high temperature in a kiln, burning off all of the moisture and binders, sintering the metal and creating a solid piece of sterling silver.

Customer service is one of the most important things at One Loom Studio, so if you have any questions, never hesitate to ask.

Taking care of your One Loom Studio piece. Your piece is made of fine or sterling silver and will need to be polished will a sunshine cleaning cloth every few months to retain it’s high polish. Rings are sealed, but these living patina’s will still grow and change depending on your piece and personal body chemistry the patina may lighten or darken. All changes in the patina are considered normal.

Sometimes people’s fingers turn green when they wear silver jewelry. Contrary to myth, this happens with .925 sterling silver as well as “fake” silver. The copper in sterling silver used to strengthen it can cause a reaction depending on your particular skin make-up, the foods you eat, and air quality where you live. This happens with 2-3% of the population, and the instances of it happening are rising due to the chemical composition of the foods available to us. If your finger turns green while wearing a sterling silver ring, there are several things you can do to keep it from happening again.

First, polish your piece with a soft cloth. If you clean the piece daily, the reaction may stop happening after a week or so. Most people will find that their sterling pieces are less likely to tarnish when worn every day because the friction of the jewelry against your skin essentially polishes it.

-Soak your ring in a 50/50 mixture of ammonia and water for a day or two.
-Coat the inside of the ring with a layer of clear nail polish.
-Make sure your skin is dry when wearing your jewelry. Take your ring off before you wash your hands and dry your finger thoroughly before putting it back on.

That said this is quite a rare occurrence.
