Creating something original and beautiful from discards is a passion shared by our family. Our Backyard Studio was born quite literally out of our back yard, with a summer spent with my husband and children scavenging, cutting, and painting all manner of things we found on our property. From there, it has grown into a full-fledged art business. All my work is painted the very old-fashioned way, completely free-hand without the use of stencils, patterns, or computers. Currently, we have a wide variety of typography signs on reclaimed wood, illustrative artwork on wooden plates, custom personalized wood slice ornaments, and one-of-a-kind clay sculptures. We also love custom work!

In 2014 we made the difficult decision to close our retail storefront, and completely change our lifestyle for the sake of our family. Our son was diagnosed at age 6 with autism spectrum disorder, and his care currently demands both of our attention at home. Your patronage allows us to earn a living doing what we absolutely love, while providing for his care and home education, as well as that of our younger daughter. We love our balance of work, home, education, and play, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!
