Pieceful Work
I made my very first toaster cover at the request of my son. Cows were a popular theme at that time and people were collecting and decorating with cows galore. My son called and asked if I could make a toaster cover with cows on it. Well, I’d never made a toaster cover, but thought, “How hard can it be? It’s just like a box.” I asked him for the measurements, found some fabric that had cows on it and voila, that’s how it all began.
When I first opened my Etsy shop I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to sell. I enjoyed making table runners and wall hangings. They were time consuming and took a while before they sold. So I thought, “I need a bread and butter item.” Then I remembered that I used to sell toaster covers in craft fairs and they did quite well. Bread and butter :) I just got the connection. Sorry, I’ve been told I have a weird sense of humor.
Toaster covers soon became my main product and I began getting custom requests for mixer covers, coffee maker covers and just about anything customers had in their kitchens that they wanted covered.
