How It All Began.......
My love for crafts was inspired by my Mom and my grandmother. As far back as I can remember, my mom was always working on something, from sewing to quilting to tole painting to knitting and the list goes on. My grandmother had the incredible patience to teach me, at a young age, to crochet. Growing up around these talented women created my love for trying any and all crafts.
When my children were born, it was my dream to keep the love for creating alive. We homeschooled our children and of course there had to be an art/craft class :) During those homeschool years there wasn’t much time for me to explore my own craft interests, everything revolved around our children. Once our kids were older it was time for mom to pick up where my craft interests left off.
Out of all the crafts I have tried over the years, my favorite craft has always been counted cross stitch. I have always admired the No Sew Quilted Ornaments that I saw at Craft Shows, so I came up with a design that incorporate the counted cross stitch and the look of the Quilted Ornament. At first I was creating the ornaments for fun, giving them to friends/family and giving them as gifts. Over time, word spread I was making the ornaments and people started asking to buy them. I started out selling at local craft fairs but that turned out to be a lot more work than I thought it would be, especially for those fairs that were outside. I learned about Etsy in 2011, created an online shop called Patty’s Craft Corner and the rest is history.
Over the years of being on Etsy I have truly enjoyed creating my ornaments, so many have a special meaning behind them. Patty’s Craft Corner has many repeat customers that are now like friends. I’ve had the pleasure of making grandchildren ornaments, Baby’s 1st Christmas ornaments, wedding ornaments, special ornaments for pets and many more ornaments to mark that special occasion or memory. I look forward to many more years of creating ornaments that will brighten someone’s day.
