Announcement   Welcome to mend on Etsy. At mend, I use only a simple running stitch on the most authentic, sustainable textiles to make unique fiber art with an unfinished look, reflective of a life in process. It is a joy to create these pieces and share them with you here.

It is also a joy to pass along pre-loved bits and bobs from my studio space. Snips of silk ribbons, tattered flour sack scraps, and handfuls of mother-of-pearl buttons find their way into special collage bundles here in the mend shop, too! I don't just love to create textile art...I love operating a zero-waste endeavor and facilitating others in creating their own collage pieces.

I also offer inspirational cards in the hopes of spreading love, compassion, and kindness.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the items you see here. And do stop by themendingspace.com to learn more about the mend story, view a gallery, and learn about the organizations we support with our sales.

Thank you so much for visiting mend on Etsy and supporting a home-based artisan.

What a lovely bundle, it arrived July 5th. Much more than a photo can show. I am very pleased with this purchase, I will hope to see more when you return. I discovered you when I saw the bundle you sent Gentle Works, (instagram). Thanks so much! Marcie

About

love is the common thread

With nothing but a simple love of natural textures, earthy colors, and kind words, Krista began making fabric collage greeting cards as a hobby in 2010. But her hobby soon grew into a passion as she broadened her artistic eye, grew her business, and learned a variety of textile art techniques.

In 2015, Krista found her creative heart's home when she stumbled on sashiko, boro stitching, and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi. A new kind of freedom emerged from her work as she began stitching basic patterns with nothing more than sustainable linens and the occasional vintage button or rusty object. A new story unfolded, too.

But that story didn't end with Krista or her needle and thread.

As she shared authentically via Instagram about her life and growth, wounds and healing, Krista found herself connecting with a growing band of fellow sojourners whose stories possessed many common threads. This mutual exchange not only challenged Krista artistically, but also opened her heart to the greater human story we all share.

Krista has always given a portion of her sales to organizations working globally to end slavery and systemic poverty for girls and women. But in 2016, she focused on finding more ways to give to more organizations. And as she did just that, a wider tapestry of love opened before her and her journey friends.

Krista is excited about the path ahead as she persists in growing her business, keeping her art fresh, and connecting with brothers and sisters around the world.

We are a ragamuffin lot, frayed at our edges, torn in some places, stitched and mended over and again. And we are beautiful. We are loved. This is the heart within every piece of mend textile art. A heart Krista gratefully shares with you.
