Announcement   I am a designer, teacher and writer with a bad habit of buying lots of sewing supplies. Therefore, I have decided to sell trims and sewing supplies so I can keep my bad habit alive. And I opened a store to do it. I have a wide variety of fabrics, notions and trims. For more information on me, my former and current businesses, check out my website www.porcelynne.com.

We ship on virtually every weekday, so order handling generally takes 1-2 days.

My love designing, both clothing and lingerie. My clothing line is (was) called Porcelynne Lingerie and I formed this business in 2002. I've taken a little vacation from designing to reevaluate what I wanted to do, and in this time I started selling sewing supplies.

I was a fashion design instructor at the university level and am an author in fashion entrepreneurship and lingerie design. The first in my entrepreneurship series is titled “Fashion Unraveled” and my lingerie series is titled "Bare Essentials." For more information on these, check out www.lafashionresource.com.

I do my best to keep the best products in my shop, please review the pictures well, as I ship exactly what is photographed. On occasion, I get very similar orders and get slightly confused between the two, so sometimes the wrong item gets shipped. I apologize in advance if this happens to you. Let me know as soon as possible and I'll get the correct items to you at my cost. Please do not complain through feedback, as I do not get notifications and I cannot resolve an issue this way. I will also discontinue doing business with individuals who do it in this manner.

All shipping discounts have been applied to the shipping of each item. No additional discounts will be given. I do not do half orders due to the cost of listings and fees from etsy and paypal.

I do ship internationally, but the USPS just raised their international prices so don't be surprised by the shipping costs. They have nearly tripled since I started doing business online.

Thanks so much for your patronage.

About

Here's my story

I'm sure you've heard amazing stories about success after tragic failure. Well, that's not my story. I think my story is more fascinating, but then again, I have done everything and more that I had hoped to accomplish in life and I just turned 40!

Here is the brief synopsis of how I introduce myself to new students:

I've been teaching for about 15 years, taught at FIDM for 9 years with 3 years in San Francisco and 6 years in Los Angeles. I began my design career at age 5 when I learned how to sew, made things and sold them at my lemonade stand. Fast forward 16 years. I move to NYC to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology and get my specialization in intimate apparel (or as everyone knows this: lingerie design). I worked at the absolute worse job in my life after graduation. It deeply traumatized me, that after only 2 days on the job, I left the industry for computer programming.

I move back to Florida (where I grew up) and regrouped. I still wanted to do design so I started building up a portfolio so I could give fashion styling a whirl. I decided that moving to San Francisco would be best for my future.

So, I pack up my car and two friends and take 3 weeks to drive across country for my big move. What an amazing experience to see the country as I did. Anyway, I moved to San Francisco without a place to live, a job or even knowing a single person. It was a great experience to start fresh.

I did my styling. I got to work with some amazing photographers and got some great photos of my designs in the process. I also started teaching pattern drafting, draping and sewing out of my garage. I launched my first business in San Francisco, Porcelynne Lingerie.

Too bad I didn't know what I was doing, but I did learn by making every mistake in the book. It took a massive theft of my merchandise for me to sit down and realize that I was selling my masterpieces for less than what it took to make them. Duh!

Fast forward a year or two, I land a teaching position at FIDM in SF and love it. Shortly after beginning teaching, an opportunity crossed my path and I opened my first store. With that too, I had no idea of what I was doing. Lucky for me, my design business was actually doing well and I even found a local factory to make my goodies.

I ran the money pit for a year and a half before I decide to turn it into a co-op. What a fabulous way to run a business. We had 12 people promoting and working the store and for the first time it was profitable. Then I closed it. Then I had all sorts of free time. I used it to write a book on how to start your own clothing line (by way of how not to start your own clothing line).

Then I decide that it's time to get serious about finding a husband so I could start a family. I move to LA, meet my husband and get married. We buy a house in the mountains and have a beautiful baby girl. I go back to work to realize I don't want to go back to work and decide to open a store. I felt the store was not enough, so I decided to start my own nonprofit design school.

The school wasn't supported by the local community, so after a year and a half, I closed its doors and we made the trip back to Florida. We packed up our store, our house, our car and 2 cats and drive back across country. This time we did it in 5 days. Not too much fun.

That brings us to our current day and time. We just made it back to Florida and are starting to settle in. I'll update as soon as I start my next adventure. So there you go, that's my story. Plus I forgot to mention that I've written 4 other books and had one translated into Spanish. So there it is, oh wait, did I mention I started my current business online and by accident? Well, that's another story for another day.

Request a cancellation within: 1 hour of purchase
I don't accept exchanges
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
All sales of clothing and lingerie are final. If a trim you purchased is not the color you want, you can return the product at your expense.

I inspect every item before I ship them, but unfortunately some things slip by me. The trims come on cheap plastic rolls that sometimes do not have smooth edges and occasional snags do occur. When I notice this, I pull it from inventory or at times, give 1-2 yards extra to make up for it. I do not sell defective merchandise on purpose. If something is damaged and I am aware of it, I will put that on the listing or contact you first before shipping.

If you do receive a damaged item, please let me know before leaving negative or neutral feedback. I will be happy to send you a replacement for the item if something is damaged. I may require photographic evidence of damage.

If you do not contact me and an item is damaged and you leave me negative or neutral feedback, you are no longer welcome to shop in my store. I am more than happy to work with you if you make an effort to communicate with me, but once you have left negative feedback, I cannot trust that you won't do so again in the future.
Payment
All payments must be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, your order will be canceled, or other arrangements must be made.
Shipping
All items are shipped first class mail unless the weight places it into the category of priority mail. You may select priority mail or priority express at check out as well. We have the capabilities to ship by UPS, so if you have a very heavy and/or large order, make a note with your order to check UPS rates. Ground rates are generally less expensive than Priority mail for orders over 2 pounds. Under 2 pounds, priority and first class will be your cheapest options. If you make a note to check UPS and it is lower, we will issue a refund when we ship your package. We will not automatically check, so you will need to make a note to check.
Additional policies and FAQs
We generally do not do custom orders. I prepackage all of the hardware and do not split up packages. I will cut one continuous piece (when available) if you order multiple quantities of a trim. All shipping discounts are done automatically as it is all calculated by weight. Product discounts are not given for large orders. Check my products for large packages of that product.
