Eclectic Art Jewelry from rural Wisconsin
My 2015 New Year's Resolution was to FINALLY get my etsy shop up and running.
VICTORY! :)
I signed up for a shop way back in 2008 when I first started shopping on etsy. I thought, "Maybe I'll make some jewelry or something someday ....."
A few years ago, I started making and selling jewelry at a friend's gallery, and then at another local shop. I totally fell in love with making accessories, and with making connections with people over our shared love of art and beautiful things. But I'd been dragging my feet about selling on etsy. There are so many lovely things and amazing artists on etsy, and I felt overwhelmed and anxious about jumping in. When NYE 2015 rolled around, I decided that I should just get over myself and take baby steps over the year to get my shop up and running. Thank you for visiting, and for all of your encouragement, and for supporting me and my dream of making and sharing beautiful things!

I'm a jewelry-making, book-devouring, vintage-accessories hoarding animal lover. I live in rural Door County, Wisconsin, an old-timey vacationland where natural beauty knocks up against gritty industrial shipyards and inspires the heck out of me.
Prettywar Designs is a jewelry and accessories line inspired by interesting juxtapositions. I love to combine disparate elements to create unique statement jewelry, and it thrills me to take an old, neglected, maybe even broken piece of jewelry and give it a new life. Vintage components like brass or copper flowers, faux pearls, Lucite beads, heart charms, old books and lace are reinvented by mixing them with new components like gemstones, unusual chains, and resin.
There's nothing I love more than taking old, neglected, maybe even broken jewelry and components and turning it into something new and wonderful.
