Puzzle People have been hand crafting wooden puzzles since 1972 - over 50 years and still growing.
We have always used non-toxic, water-based stains and finishes.
Our wood is furniture grade birch plywood which meets California's strict CARB Phase 2 emission and testing standards, so no formaldehyde emission to worry about.
Fans remember our first puzzle shop at Pier 39 in San Francisco, Mike's Puzzle Shop in Old Sacramento, and others. While we no longer operate brick and mortar stores, we do apply our 50 years of skills to the puzzles we hand cut and hand color for our etsy store and our own secure web shop: www.puzzlepeople.com
We take pride in our kid-friendly and artistic designs. Several of our puzzles have won the Oppenheim Toy Award "Gold Seal".

5 out of 5 starsStumbled upon this item when trying to find an Easter present for my son and thought the puzzle, along with a few other items looked familiar and I was correct. I’ve had few puzzles from the Puzzle People from my childhood, including this one but with my name. My son’s puzzle arrived and I love seeing it next to mine and can’t wait for him to love it as much as I did mine. I can’t wait to order one for his cousin in the future. All of mine are still in wonderful condition 20+ years later along with my USA Map and Turtle!! Michael and Pat, I don’t think you will remember me or my family of 7, but I can’t thank you enough for the memories we made with your puzzles, and I can’t wait to make more with my son!

Michael started Puzzle People in 1972. After 50 years he's still loving his job making quality wooden puzzles for kids of all ages. As you can imagine, he is a VERY good cutter. Pat handles both the artistic side of the business and customer service.

Jeff is the youngest son. He began cutting at age 13, and was away from the business for 35 years serving in the Air Force and as a business analyst. He rejoined in 2023 with his partner Joanna. Michael and Pat now enjoy a slower pace and the garden!

Gift wrapping and packaging
We will happily add a 3" wooden heart with ribbon and write your special greetings on it. If the child is turning "1" or "2" etc., just mention it and we'll string that number onto the ribbon as well. Just mention it in the "Note to Seller" area of your order or send a Convo. We do not, however, gift wrap.
