A handmade experience
¡Hola! Mi nombre es Ven Ven Law. Vivo en un hermoso barrio a pocos kilómetros del centro de Ámsterdam con mi familia, mi montón de plantas y un gato viejo. Soy la directora creativa, diseñadora y costurera de Qtpiworkshop desde 2009. También tengo un título en Comunicación Visual y un trabajo a tiempo parcial como gerente de proyectos en Grayscale, una agencia de diseño web.
Mi pasión (más como la adicción) por crear algo con mis propias manos comenzó cuando era pequeña. Solía hacer muñecas de peluche con mi ropa vieja.
Qtpiworkshop comenzó en 2010. Vivíamos en los Países Bajos con nuestro hijo de tres meses, y la abuela de mi esposo me dio la vieja máquina de coser alemana. No había mucho que hacer a pesar de leer y amamantar, decidí hacer algo con ropa usada mientras mi bebé dormía.
Las primeras piezas de QTPI fueron un par de jeans para bebés, sudadera con capucha, jersey, sombrero de calabaza para mi bebé y una funda móvil para mi esposo. Mi esposo estaba tan feliz usando su billetera por un tiempo y un día, me dijo que debería intentar vender este producto (o ropa de bebé) en Etsy, un lugar para mamás astutas (en ese entonces).
Así fue como empezó.
Me encanta hacer la creación de telas mejorando o agregando funciones al concepto original. Trato de mejorar los detalles que tienen sentido y son útiles. Espero que disfrutes de nuestra historia y de la experiencia de las creaciones hechas a mano.
Hello! My name is Ven Ven Law. I live in a beautiful neighbourhood just a few kilometres away from the centre of Amsterdam with my family, my lot of plants and an old cat. I’m the creative director, designer and sewing lady at Qtpiworkshop since 2009. I also have a degree in Visual Communication and a part-time job as a project manager in Grayscale, a web design agency.
My passion (more like addiction) to create something with my own hands started when I was small. I used to make stuffed dolls out of my old clothes.
Qtpiworkshop began in 2010. We lived in the Netherlands with our three-month-old son, and I was given the old German sewing machine from my hubby's grandma. There wasn't a lot to do despite reading and breastfeeding, I decided to make something out of used clothes while my baby was sleeping.
The very first few QTPI's pieces were a pair of baby jeans, hoodie, jumper, pumpkin hat for my baby boy and a mobile sleeve for my hubby. My hubby was so happy using his wallet for a while and one day, he told me that I should try selling this product (or baby clothes) on Etsy, a place for crafty mommy(back then).
That was how it began.
I love making fabric creation by improving or adding functions to the original concept. I try to enhance details that make sense and are useful. I hope you enjoy our story and the experience of handmade creations.
