Announcement Raven Mad Designs is based in Whitehorse, Yukon, in northern Canada. Whitehorse is full of ravens who circle and play outside of my studio windows, keeping me company as I work. I specialize in mixed media and illustration, hand-dyed and hand-spun wools, and clothing and accessory design.

I am an artist, writer, dancer, and activist. On any given day I can be found on roller derby skates, in a can can skirt, caked in mud on a mountain bike, or covered in a rainbow of paint.

This may be the cleanest my art studio that fills the loft of my house has ever looked.
There are lots of treasures hidden on the studio shelves including my "Onceler's House" and Shel Silverstein poem.
My cozy futon where I read, scheme, plan and dream.
Every inch of shelf space is full of art supplies.
My mood board and typewriter grace my desk.

Raven Mad Designs: The Journey to Become a DIY Princess!

It’s been said that I collect experiences. That’s because I love to try something new, to travel, to create, to learn, and in general to run amuck. I’m one of those people who get more organized and efficient the busier they get and that leads me to like to take on lots of “projects”.

At some point I realized that I needed to focus this frenetic energy and love of projects in some way. I had always had a secret dream of being an artist and writer and so I started a blog called the Craft Project to help me on this path. I originally thought of the blog as a way of documenting my journey to become a DIY princess.

I found that the more art I threw myself into the more opportunities for art emerged. Sooner than I could have imagined I started finding myself with solo art shows and Raven Mad Designs was formed.

The name is inspired by the ravens who frolic daily outside of my studio windows in Whitehorse, Yukon.
