No ensino médio eu tentei arte porque não havia mais nada, então na faculdade enquanto estudava design gráfico eu tinha que dar uma pausa nisso e tentar coisas de arte "reais", então enquanto fazia aulas de pintura eu tinha que mudar para impressão porque a pintura não estava funcionando para mim.
Dezoito anos depois estou trabalhando no meu estúdio em Grand Rapids Michigan, tenho duas prensas, uma feita à mão e outra usada que comprei de um impressor em Chicago.
O estúdio está dentro de um armazém chamado Tanglefoot, eles foram os primeiros fabricantes das tiras de mosca e eles ainda estão no negócio.
Agora eu só trabalho no estúdio, eu só tive um bebê e é muito bom poder trabalhar e estar com ela todos os dias. Ainda estou descobrindo como equilibrar maternidade e tempo de estúdio.
In high school I tried art because there wasn't anything else left, then in college while studying graphic design I had to take a break from it and try "real" art stuff, so while taking painting classes i had to switch to printmaking because painting wasn't working for me.
Eighteen years later I am working fom my studio in Grand Rapids Michigan, I have two presses, one handmade and the other a used one that I bought from a printmaker in chicago.
The studio is locted inside a warehouse called Tanglefoot, they were the first manufactures of the fly strips and they are still in business.
Right now I only work at the studio, I just had a baby and it is really nice to be able to work and be with her every day. I am still figuring out how to balance motherhood and studio time.
