Art therapy is the practice of using art materials to further the therapeutic process. Making art in therapy can help an individual tap into their unconscious, access trauma, and deepen self-awareness in ways verbal therapy cannot. As an Art Therapist, an important aspect of my work is to create art myself. Art Therapist response art can be an important and informative aspect of therapy in that it can reflect some of the personal feelings the therapist experiences when working with a client. I strive to make art to process my feelings and illuminate the treatment process. Many of the pieces that I sell are created in response to my work with clients or other experiences I have had.
