How a baby hammock changed my life, my baby's life and how it can change yours too!

Este viaje comenzó en 2011, no como un plan de negocios, sino por necesidad, cuando me convertí en madre. Mi primer hijo, Noah, necesitaba que lo cargaran constantemente y lloraba cada vez que lo dejaba. Como madre soltera acostumbrada a ser independiente, sabía que tenía que encontrar una manera suave y segura de mantenerlo tranquilo sin dejar de tener las manos libres.
Antes de ser madre, trabajé como guía de escalada y pasé años con niños pequeños, incluyendo niños con necesidades especiales. Comprendí la importancia de un buen apoyo, equilibrio y seguridad para los pequeños, y me propuse crear algo que pudiera servir como un segundo par de brazos: seguro, fuerte y reconfortante.
Con materiales sencillos que tenía en casa, fabriqué mi primera hamaca, dándole un rebote suave y construyendo una estructura robusta con la ayuda de mi padre. Funcionó de maravilla, y ese primer diseño se convirtió en la base de los columpios que sigo fabricando.
A medida que aprendí más sobre la postura y el desarrollo temprano de los bebés, mis amigos empezaron a pedirme sus propias hamacas. Lo que empezó en casa se convirtió poco a poco en RestNests, y hoy estas hamacas se encuentran entre los columpios para bebés más populares en Israel.
Con el tiempo, agregué más productos que consideraba que los padres realmente necesitaban, como portabebés y artículos esenciales para la comodidad. Cada artículo es cuidadosamente investigado, probado y probado primero por mis propios hijos, priorizando siempre la seguridad y el bienestar.

Hi, I’m Tamar, the maker behind restNests.
This journey began in 2011, not as a business plan, but out of necessity, when I became a mother. My first child, Noah, needed to be held constantly and cried whenever I put him down. As a single mom used to being independent, I knew I had to find a gentle, safe way to keep him calm while still having my hands free.
Before motherhood, I worked as a rock-climbing guide and spent years with young children, including children with special needs. I understood how important proper support, balance, and a sense of security are for little bodies, and I set out to create something that could act as a second pair of arms: safe, strong, and soothing.
Using simple materials at home, I made my first hammock, adding gentle bounce and building a sturdy frame with help from my father. It worked beautifully, and that first design became the foundation for the swings I still make today.
As I learned more about baby posture and early development, friends began asking for hammocks of their own. What started at home slowly grew into restNests, and today these hammocks are among the most loved baby swings in Israel.
Over time, I added more products I felt parents truly needed, including baby wrap carriers and comfort-focused essentials. Every item is carefully researched, tested, and first tried by my own children, with safety and well-being always coming first.
I love creating from home and knowing that something I make can ease the load, because parenting is wonderful and also exhausting. If restNests can bring more calm, closeness, and ease into a family’s day, then I know I’m doing what I set out to do.
