MEET SCARLETT
Hello! My name is Scarlett Pons, I'm the owner and ceramic designer of Scarlettwares, a small family run business based in Virginia and I'm excited to share my love of design with you. My passion is to create beautiful objects that you use every day in your home. I enjoy the challenge of reimagining household items as modern elegant designs.
OUR STORY
From architects to creative business owners, my husband, Gabriel and I own a brick and mortar store in Downtown Fredericksburg. Our story started in architecture school and led us to working in New York City for eight years before moving to Virginia. Today, we have two boys and a black cat and love being involved in the Fredericksburg community. I am one of the founders and first president of the Fredericksburg Main Street program. Gabriel is working with the Skate Brooks Project renovating our local skate park. When we're not at the shop, we're sitting with friends and family around a bonfire.off to sporting events and volunteering with Mainstree America.
PONSHOP STUDIO
In addition to my online shop, we own a brick and mortar store in Fredericksburg Virginia’s historic downtown. PONSHOP is a multifaceted gallery and retail store. Our space serves as a perfect testing ground for all the Scarlettwares products. By showcasing our items in store, I'm able to talk with customers and get realtime feedback on how the products look, feel, and function.
SCARLETTWARES
Which leads us to Scarlettwares, my online pottery store. Between my experiences in Architecture and Pottery, I love to design useful objects with soft curves and quiet beauty that will unite your space. Your everyday items, whether a sponge holder or spoon rest should be both functional and elegant. Bring home a Scarlettwares piece today and make your everyday beautiful.
THE PROCESS
There are two lines of work- handmade and manufactured. Our handmade designs are made by hand by Scarlett in her country studio located in Virginia. She uses a variety of techniques from hand-building to wheel throwing and makes all her own glazes.
The manufactured items are designs that start in our country studio as hand-built clay items. I make several prototypes and test small batches of these designs through PONSHOP. Once I have perfected the design and receive feedback from my customers, I move on to production. I work closely with my manufacturer to have the design cast in high-quality stoneware clay and finished in a classic bone white look.
