The Birth of Smallfunart: A Story of Love, Loss, and Lasting Memories
When I was a teenager, I made my first piece of metal art - a small memorial stake for my grandmother’s beloved cat, Mini. Mini had been her faithful companion for 20 years. When she passed away, my grandmother was heartbroken. I wanted to do something to ease her pain.
My father, a skilled welder, had taught me the basics of metalworking, so I gathered some steel, fired up the torch, and carefully shaped a simple but heartfelt tribute—a cat stake with Mini’s name engraved on it. When I gave it to my grandmother, she held it tightly, tears in her eyes, and whispered, "Now she’ll always be with me." That moment changed everything for me.
Years later, after graduating from college, I kept thinking why not turn this passion into something more? I want to create some metal works to decorate our homes and gardens, celebrate joyful moments, and commemorate our cherished pets and people. Death isn’t the true end - being forgotten is. When we lose a beloved companion, a memorial stake with their name keeps them close. Every glance, every story shared, every memory relived means they’re still here with us.
Today, I am running Smallfunart. Pour my heart into every design. My own cat Max curls up next to me while I work, inspiring me every day. There is nothing that brings me more joy than reading customers message and review. They find comfort in my creations and give them their own special meaning.
Thank you for choosing my shop. Every sign I make carries a story - and now, yours will too.
