This french past that echoes in the hearts
I live in the north of Provence, in south-eastern France, at the foot of the Vercors mountains.
I love this country of lavender and vines, dry winters and sun-bathed villages where bustling bric-a-brac markets appear from the earliest days of spring.
Since my youth, I have been interested in objets d'art and curios, often hand-crafted and uncovered in cellars and attics, waiting for a new life. They whisper to us a history that can help us on our journey through the modern age.
I very much like the idea that these items can cross borders, to bring pleasure to people on the other side of the world.
In France, great publishers have illustrated with talent works on botany, zoology, anatomy, decorative art... I am lost in admiration of these quality books with their superb engravings
in bright colours (see the Ch. d'Orbigny's engravings, Racinet's Polychrome Ornaments, the Larousse encyclopaedias plates ...)
This shop is an eclectic collection of antique items of the kind used every day by my grandparents, together with many original illustrations from the 19th and early 20th centuries mainly.
France is a country with a rich history. Sharing it is my passion.
