Welcome to SOFUSI
Hi, I’m James. I’m a USAF veteran - Security Specialist, 1984 to 1989 - and the one-man operation behind SOFUSISTUDIO. I served almost five years on the line: McConnell AFB in Kansas, Florennes Air Base in Belgium, and Minot AFB in North Dakota, under both Strategic Air Command and US Air Forces in Europe. Anyone who served at those bases in those years knows what we were guarding.
After the Air Force I worked as a State Department contractor on US embassy construction sites in Georgetown, Guyana and Caracas, Venezuela, and later served in the US Army Reserves. I grew up a military brat, so this world has been mine my whole life.
The shop exists because I wanted designs for the military community that didn’t look like they were thrown together by someone who’d never been in. I design every piece in this shop myself. I went back to school after my contractor years and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Fine Art from Kansas State University. So what you’re getting is work from someone who actually served, designed by hand, for people who get it.
The shop name? SOFUSI is our play on KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.
