Sci-Fi & Science Artist and Author
Natalie McKean is a self-taught, full-time working artist and designer. They are a multi-media artist but specialize in scratchboards, a reductive medium where black ink is scratched off a white clayboard. McKean began working in this medium in 2008 and became a full time artist and entrepreneur in 2011 when they went on their first art tour across the US. They have since sold their work internationally, vended at hundreds of festivals and fairs, shown original art in many galleries across California, and started an ongoing, sci-fi comic series, M33: Galaxy of Hybrids.
To this day Natalie continues to create new art and designs under their brand, Somnia City, (Somnia: A condition of or like sleep/dream state - City [informal]: A place or situation characterized by a specified attribute).
"We care immensely for our community and take care to give back locally, so almost all of our supplies and products come from local or Independent businesses. We are also environmentally conscious, using only non-toxic, water-based ink to hand screen-prints every one of our t-shirts in our studio.
