Mi historia de acolchado comenzó con un viaje a Wisconsin para visitar a un amigo. Tenía las colchas más lindas y acogedoras en su sala de estar. Ella dijo que antes de irme, me enseñaría a hacer una colcha de trapo. Efectivamente, abordé el avión a casa con mi suave y adorable colcha de trapo metida de forma segura en mi equipaje de mano. Llegué a casa y me dispuse a hacer otra. Luego hice uno para mi mamá. Y mi amigo, luego otro amigo.
Mi primera venta en Etsy se celebró con un alegre baile alrededor de la casa. Incluso ahora, me hacen muchas cosquillas cuando vendo una colcha, ya sea en Etsy o en privado. Me enorgullezco del hecho de que mi tela está reciclada: nunca usó tela de la tienda de segunda mano, artículos de ropa usados suavemente y sobras de los alijos de tela de amigos y compañeros de trabajo. Mis edredones son eco-verdes e imposibles de recrear. Es por eso que a veces se les perdona por hacer que mi casa parezca una fábrica textil. My quilting story started with a trip to Wisconsin to visit a friend. She had the cutest and coziest quilts in her living room. She said that before I left, she'd teach me how to make a rag quilt. Sure enough, I boarded the plane home with my soft and adorable rag quilt safely tucked into my carry on luggage. I got home and set out to make another one. Then I made one for my mom. And my friend, Then another friend.
My first sale on Etsy was celebrated with a joyful dance around the house. Even now, I get extremely tickled when I sell a quilt either on Etsy or privately. I take pride in the fact that my fabric is all upcycled - never used fabric from the thrift store, gently used clothing items and leftovers from the fabric stashes of friends and coworkers. My quilts are eco-green and impossible to recreate. That's why they are forgiven for making my house look like a textile factory at times.
