Handcrafted travel journals made from grape and cactus leather - sustainable and cruelty-free.
Handcrafted travel journals made from grape and cactus leather - sustainable and cruelty-free.
The idea for these journals began when I wanted to make a beautiful travel journal as a gift for a close friend. I knew I didn't want to use animal leather, so while searching for alternatives I discovered plant-based leathers made from grapes and cactus. Learning how these innovative materials are created - transforming agricultural waste and sustainably harvested plants into durable, leather-like textures - truly fascinated me.
That discovery inspired me to keep creating. Today I handcraft travel journals from these plant-based materials, guided by a love for travel and the quiet ritual of writing things down. Each journal is made to accompany journeys and to hold the memories, thoughts and stories we gather along the way.
The name Toppi is inspired by my love for Japan and the Japanese language. In Japanese, toppī suggests something a little unusual, unexpected or distinctive - something that stands out in a quiet way. I loved the idea of a name that reflects individuality and curiosity, just like these journals. Each is meant to be a personal space for unique stories, thoughts and memories gathered along the way.
