Suniq was born from ideas, experience and a new situation. After moving to the US the option to work or to create was a simple choice. Now Suniq uses experience in film and television wardrobe, time spent thrift store shopping and years going to bazaars, to influence and drive design ideas. Never locked to any methods or principles the work you’ll find is varied and unique. New ideas are constant and always explored. Suniq hopes to give you something different to enjoy. Something to see, to inspire, to love and to wear.
I used to work as a wardrobe technician, designer, supervisor and an assistant on movies and television. After working for many years in the movie business with tailors, designers, art directors, actors; my job made me more creative and I got a sewing machine to make things for myself. I love shopping and I'm totally a hat girl. I've been collecting hats from all around the world and it's hard to find unique ones, one day I decided to make up-cycled hats from vintage jackets for myself and people started asking on the street then I decided to open my shop at the end of 2011.
I wake up with new ideas everyday; like up-cycled bags, accessories and clothing. Up-cycling makes me happy and I feel like, I give things a new life. I mostly use unwanted leather scraps from leather factories. I love making things that can be worn in many different ways. Everything here was designed and handmade with love by me in Brooklyn, New York. I live in New York and everywhere I go I'm inspired by the city; the artists, the talent, the culture, the diversity and the ENERGY!
