One of my earliest memories is watching Sesame Street in my grandmother's living room while she combed my hair. My great grandma would send her bags full of ribbon from New York, and each day I'd get to pick one to wear. I remember looking in the mirror and feeling special and grown up and well...pretty!

When I found out I was expecting my first daughter, whom we later affectionately nicknamed Sweetcakes for her sweet disposition, I found myself growing SO excited to share the same memories as I had with my grandma. And then when we found out we were blessed a short time later with a second daughter, whom we eventually nicknamed Sassypants for her fierce and sassy personality, I knew I had to continue the tradition!

“sweetcakes and sassypants” was born out of a love to create beautiful hair accessories for parents to share with their little girls. Those afternoons spent with my grandma, picking out the perfect ribbon and learning how to tie them into my hair (and the hair of every doll I owned!), will forever remain some of my favorite memories, and I cherish the times I hear my own little girls asking to “please wear my pretty bows today, Mama!".

Eventually, as my girls grew up, birthday crowns were added to my shop and that's when I realized exactly how much fun they were to create! I love getting ideas for new ones from my girls (and they LOVE helping me match glitters and felt!). Due to time constraints, I made the hard decision to only sell birthday crowns in the summer of 2020. After many requests by my amazing customers, I added in *boy* crowns too!
