How it all began...
I first started working with wood when I was around age 8. (I can even remember having to stand on a platform my Dad made me, just so I could reach the table saw!)
I've always loved creating things with my hands, but there's something special about working with wood itself... The feel, the smell, the grain, the color, and even the sawdust in your hair! :-)
My interest in Carving likewise started at a young age. My family belonged to a camping club. Occasionally, we'd be joined by a local artist who just happened to be a world class master carver. I still remember one time, sitting near him on a picnic table, watching him pulling knives out of a giant tool box and slowly sharpening them to a surgical edge. His final check on whether they were sharp enough was to shave the hair on his arms with it. (His arms were perfectly smooth!). :-)
So anyway, for years, I'd always made my family their Christmas gifts, instead of buying them. Likewise, for years I've heard them say "you REALLY need to start selling this stuff!". So now, decades after that 8 year old first stepped up to the table saw, I decided to do just that and this Etsy store is the result!
