Every man-made phenomenon has its own philosophy and history of progress. The tradition of masks, just like of costumes, has its roots in the distant past. Long before mankind, the art of changing appearances was conceived by Mother Nature -- the change of day into night, the change of the seasons, and the defensive, aggressive, or boastful outfits of beasts. Mankind inherited this tradition from nature and created its own versions: we create theatrical, carnival, ritual, decorative, battle, and clandestine looks. Our company aims to uphold all of these categories and delve into new ones, to make masks as familiar an attribute to people as clothing, hairstyles, baubles, or tattoos. The key is the collective knowledge and experience of our founders, people with diverse backgrounds: artists, historians, actors, biologists, and engineers.
The process of making masks is neither simple nor quick. First, a prototype is constructed, usually with plasticine, then a wooden frame, a gypsum case, a silicone mold, and finally, the mask itself. The mask is then colored, and artificial hair is added. From making the initial decision of an image to create to the final haircut, more than a month could go by. To that end, we apply a wide array of tools and talents, the listing of which would probably overwhelm even the most curious customer.
Our company also produces custom masks made to order -- we can create any image for any customer. To that end, we feel it is imperative to explain to potential customers the main obstacles that any manufacturer inevitably comes across. Chiefly, it is the difficulty in constructing likenesses real-life, historical figures. First of all, these projects take the most time to complete; second, the dimensions of a face varies from person to person, so the likeness may become distorted depending on the face that wears the mask. There is, of course, a solution to this kind of problem, but it involves making a cast of the individual customer's head on the condition that the their face is smaller or thinner than that of their desired likeness'.
