Things, Art, and Doilies
After graduating from art school I began working for an art supply store where, under the tutelage of my awesome boss Karen, I became her assistant picture framer. Being around art supplies 5 days a week really inspired me to experiment with mediums and materials.
The detail oriented work I did while framing also began to seep into my work as well. I like keeping things small because of the intimacy created while creating it and also while viewing it.
The fiber part of my shop is a more recent skill developed for the purpose of the art collective I belong to known as The Ladies' Auxiliary. It's a good way to supplement my income and feed into my detail habit. I've been a self-taught knitter since my late teens in the mid-90's. I enjoy stranding and colorwork the most right now. Pairing designs with colors feeds into my favorite part of the creative process.
My art is all about body language, nature, and color. The narrative created between the subjects and the space they're in, and to each other is conveyed by these aspects. I like my viewer to create their own interpretation of a narrative. I'm also slightly obsessed with noses. It's the best feature ever!
