Why Weedpatch Studio Became a Source for Refinished Vintage Furniture
If you ask anyone who knows me well, they'll tell you I don't know how to sit still for very long. Which translates into not being able to sit at a desk for long periods of time. A regular 9-5 office job has never been a good fit for me. When my son was 2 (he's now fast approaching 15 😲) I started my journey working for myself.
Over the past 10 years I've started and scaled two successful businesses in e-commerce. I transitioned out of both businesses in early 2020 in search of something new. Doing the same thing over and over had turned my business into a JOB and I wanted to find the excitement again.
I've always enjoyed refinishing and updating furniture for my own home. When my kids went back to in-person learning, I decided to see if I could sell some of my work. Now it's what gets me out of bed in the morning. I spend my days refinishing and restoring quality vintage furniture pieces for my clients.
Why Weedpatch Studio?
In our family, we give our houses names. My great-grandmother's home was called The Weedpatch - named for the state of the property when she first moved in. Even when she'd tamed the gardens, the name stayed.
The transformation from weedpatch to beautiful gardens seemed to be a fitting parallel for what I do with furniture - taking them from brown, dull, and outdated to vibrant and reimagined.
